Tomorrow is the last day for NY Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie to bring A9214, the bill that makes soliciting sex from a 15-year-old a felony, to a vote. Please call his office and forward this email to friends and fellow New Yorkers to help us pass this critical piece of legislation.

Hello, my name is [XXX], and [I’m a New Yorker//I am] calling on Speaker Heastie to bring A9214 to a vote.
Today, the Senate passed this bill. It closes a shocking loophole that puts New York out of step with every other state in the nation. Right now, New York is the only state where an adult who purchases a 15-, 16-, or 17-year-old for sex can face only a misdemeanor instead of a felony. That's right. The perpetrators of child sex trafficking are met with near impunity!
Think about that: a 15-year-old can be punished for buying a drink, but an adult who buys that same child for sex may receive little more than a slap on the wrist.
This loophole is both dangerous and indefensible, and it needs to be closed immediately. I urge Speaker Heastie to bring A9214 to the floor for a vote and stand with survivors, children, and common sense.
