**What ‘The Deep View’ means**: Here at TDV, we are focused on** the deep view.** Our philosophy is to give a story the number of words it deserves; especially in today’s climate, **context and history** are perhaps the most important things a journalist can offer, and thorough context – not just news – is what we aim to provide for you, every morning, five days a week.
* The other element here is that **we are an independent outlet** (advertisers keep the lights on, here). In a lot of ways, Big Money, Big Tech and Legacy Media have let people down, but that doesn’t mean journalism isn’t important. Quite the contrary.
* Here, **we break the toxicity of the 24-hour news cycle,** giving you everything you need to keep up with – _and understand_ – the many complexities of the field of AI: ethics, safety, regulation, technological advancements, science, robotics, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, AVs, VCs, investors and – above all – humanity.
**We are skeptical** _because we are optimistic_. We are critical because we are hopeful. And we are absolutely _dedicated to cutting through the hype_ and presenting you with a slice of thoroughly contextualized reality, in addition to our own thoughts, impressions and feelings (which will always be clearly distinguishable from the hard facts).
