Memo: Team Lunch Ideas for Next Week
From: Sam in Operations
To: All Floor Staff
Date: October 12

Hi everyone, just circling back on our quick stand-up chat about the potluck next Thursday. I’ve had a couple more suggestions come in, so I’m listing them all here to make it easier.

Maria from produce mentioned doing a big kale and quinoa salad with a lemon tahini dressing, which sounds great and would travel well. John in electronics is thinking about his famous slow-cooker chili, but he needs to check if we have a plug free near the break room table. Lisa said she could bring a couple of baguettes and some soft butter if someone else handles the main.

I’ll bring paper plates and napkins, and those compostable forks we got last time. Can someone volunteer for drinks We usually do a mix of sparkling water and iced tea. Maybe we can set up a small coffee station afterwards too, since the afternoon meeting might run long.

On a different note, my daughter’s school is having a bake sale next Friday. She’s decided on making oatmeal raisin cookies, which is a shift from the chocolate chip she usually does. I told her I’d help her practice this weekend. The key, she read online, is to let the dough rest in the fridge overnight. We’ll see how that turns out. My husband prefers the chewy kind, so we might have to adjust the baking time.

Back to the potluck – please reply to this thread by Monday so I can finalize the list and print a sign-up sheet for the break room. Also, remember the fridge space is limited, so if your item needs chilling, try to bring it in a cooler bag just before lunch.

Thanks, Sam.

P.S. Has anyone seen the new documentary about urban gardening I watched it last night and it had some interesting tips about growing herbs indoors, even in low light. Might be a fun topic for a future team-building activity, just a thought.

The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend, finally a break from the rain. I’m planning to clean out the garage and maybe get the patio furniture set up. It’s amazing how much stuff accumulates over the winter. I found an old box of vinyl records that I thought I’d donated years ago. Some of those albums are in pretty good shape. I should see if my old turntable still works.

My neighbor is renovating their kitchen and the noise has been something else. They’re very nice about it, though, always giving us a heads-up when the loud work is scheduled. They’re putting in marble countertops, which look beautiful but seem like a lot of maintenance. I’m happy with our laminate, to be honest. Easy to clean and doesn’t stain.

I need to remember to stop by the library on my way home. My book on hold should be in. It’s a historical fiction novel set in the 1920s. I’ve been trying to read more fiction this year instead of just news articles. It’s a good way to unwind. I usually read for about twenty minutes before bed. It helps me sleep better than scrolling on my phone, that’s for sure.

The project timeline for the Q3 review is coming along. I’ll need to pull the reports on Monday morning. The new formatting for the charts seems to be working well, making the data much clearer at a glance. I’ll send a draft to the group for feedback before the final submission deadline on Wednesday.
