The Cowboy Code, or the “Code of Conduct” was an unwritten set or principles forged on the trails of the people who settled the Wild West of America back in the 1800’s.. It was a code that was required, not because of religion or law, but because of the sense of community and NEED for help along the treacherous trails.
Many people perished trying to find their place in the West, snow storms, floods, and yes, SOME Indians, among other woes to befall the unwary traveler.
But the Code became an unwritten principle to enable those brave pioneers to get through it all, with the help from the other travelers. Because, you see, there WAS no law enforcement, no health community nothing. They were all on their own, trying to find a plot of land to settle on and build their families and communities.
Each “code” had a specific need or circumstance..
Personally I find #9 to be THE epitome of the cowboy life. Never letting someone be hurt or bullied just because they had less, or were less capable. In those days, EVERYONE was important, and had a task to bring to the table to help everyone else. Anyone who hurt another was bad for the people as a whole, and were NOT condoned or coddled.. In fact, MANY were just outright summarily tried and killed..
So take these to heart, folks. If you can live by these principles, you will have as happy and fulfilling a life as I have had… Because community and friends are ALL you have..

2. Take pride in your work. Always do your best.
3. Stay curious. Study hard and learn all you can.
4. Do what has to be done and finish what you start.
5. Be tough, but fair.
6. When you make a promise, keep it.
7. Be clean in thought, word, deed, and dress.
8. Practice tolerance and understanding of others.
9. Be willing to stand up for what’s right.
10. Be an excellent steward of the land and its animals.

“Code of Conduct” was an unwritten set or principles forged on the trails of the people who settled the Wild West of America back in the 1800’s.. It was a code that was required, not because of religion or law, but because of the sense of community and NEED for help along the treacherous trails.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 20px 0;color: rgb(54,55,55);line-height: 26px;font-size: 16px;">Many people perished trying to find their place in the West, snow storms, floods, and yes, SOME Indians, among other woes to befall the unwary traveler.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 20px 0;color: rgb(54,55,55);line-height: 26px;font-size: 16px;">But the Code became an unwritten principle to enable those brave pioneers to get through it all, with the help from the other travelers. Because, you see, there WAS no law enforcement, no health community nothing. They were all on their own, trying to find a plot of land to settle on and build their families and communities.</p><p style="margin: 0 0 20px 0;color: rgb(54,55,55);line-height: 26px;font-size: 16px;">Each “code” had a specific need or circumstance.. </p><p style="margin: 0 0 20px 0;color: rgb(54,55,55);line-height: 26px;font-size: 16px;">Personally I find #9 to be THE epitome of the cowboy life. Never letting someone be hurt or bullied just because they had less, or were less capable. In those days, EVERYONE was important, and had a task to bring to the table to help everyone else. Anyone who hurt another was bad for the people as a whole, and were NOT condoned or coddled.. In fact, MANY were just outright summarily tried and killed.. </p><p style="margin: 0 0 20px 0;color: rgb(54,55,55);line-height: 26px;font-size: 16px;">So take these to heart, folks.
