On occasion I think about gardening, and realize that when plants wilt or produce is sparse, I wonder if my efforts truly paid off. Even without obvious results, it stays in my mind. Conversely, if I am handed a garden result that doesn’t suit my e
xpectations, I rarely complain—understanding the care and time behind it.

Out of appreciation, I keep any judgment to myself, considering how much work a small patch demands. Different people have unique talents outside or in the garden, and I know several who find it complicated to grow simple crops. For instance, there w
as once a neighbor—now sadly gone—who regularly overwatered the tomatoes; stems so weak the fruit would not form, or harvested root crops too soon so the flavors never developed.

Her beans withered on the stalk, her lettuce became tough, and although nobody wished to mention it, the feeling was obvious. My friends these days, if unsure about plant care, will request suggestions or input. As a group, we pitch in so the plot fl
ourishes for us all.

If a stranger ever asked my opinion about a crop’s quality, I would kindly share my viewpoint or simply take home the vegetables without using them as a polite sign. At farmers’ markets or similar events, if questioned, I contribute friendly, use
ful feedback. For everyone’s sake—and the encouragement behind any garden—honesty is

most gentle when paired with understanding and warmth whenever possible, particularly when we see that someone has spent energy and hope into every harvest. Community gardens provide many lessons, and giving those kindly is a sign of care from one ne
ighbor or visitor to another, in every season.

Hi Corey,

Are you planning on joining the hiking group this Saturday at Miller Lake A few of us are pulling together snacks and drinks for the group, but I wasn’t sure if you’d already signed up or needed a ride. Last time the parking lot filled up fast.

Would you mind texting me by Thursday Looking forward to catching up after your trip!

Thanks,
Paula
