You are concerned about the top of the posts, but what about the bottom of the "cut"
It is the load surface for the beam, and it may be worn worse than the top of the post, since dampness can accumulate there.
You might want to check the post with a tool there, to see if the bottom of the cut is still solid.

That sounds fantastic, Lisa! One of my favorite tips is making homemade compost. I use a mix of vegetable scraps and leaves for a rich soil. It's quick, eco-friendly, and always a success.

Good day everyone,
Lisa, your herb garden sounds marvelous! I enjoy working with plants too. Recently, I completed a vertical garden that uses succulents and ferns. It's lush and vibrant without being too demanding.
Mark, watering in the morning is indeed beneficial. I also like to try a mulch approach, where a layer of organic material is applied around plants. It helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.
