You are rightfully anxious about the top of the posts, but what about the lower part of the "notch"
It is the bearing area for the beam, and it may be decayed worse than the top of the post, since moisture can get trapped there.
You might want to poke the post with a tool there, to see if the bottom of the notch is still firm.
